Product works very well on a Windows Mobile Phone (Samsung Omnia i910). Product needs to come on a larger microSD card or be transferable to a user's own larger card as the 2 Gb card size is way too small.Almost like having a Garmin NUVI on your phone. Particularly nice is the Google Search feature to glean Point of Interest information from a web search and display on the Garmin map.Built in Omnia phone GPS is a little weak. Garmin XT can be used with an external Bluetooth GPS unit for improved reception if necessary.Definitely a 5-star product but for the ridiculous size of the microSD card and the restrictions put on honest use.
the software installed fine, but when i started the program it would only search for gps reciever via bluetooth or attachments, no internal searches. I have an ASUS Mypal A696 pda with built in GPS. I ordered the Garmin Mobile XT from garmin.com because I hate the destinator software that came with my pda. It finally gives me the option to search for another gps device and when I click "yes" it gives me the error message "connection allowed to garmin GPS device only" Contacted garmin with no help. I would not reccommend this product.
The Garmin XT overall is a very good product. I would have given it a higher rating, but it did not have the latest 2009 maps which seemed to be 2007 vintage at best. It loads easily and worked fine on my old Dell x50v PDA and my Verizon Omnia smartphone with external GPS. I have an old Pharis 360 bluetooth GPS receiver. I would caution people to find out what version of maps are on this product when they buy it. No where did it say what vintage the maps were and there is no legal way to upgrade to the latest maps on this product without buying another one with newer maps.
Had I known this from the start I would not have purchased this software. The software itself works great, but you need to be aware that it doesn't work unless you have the SD card it comes on in your device. My phone is a Samsung Omnia so installing an SD card required removing the battery. You cannot install it to a larger SD card or copy the files. It is tied directly to the card itself. I don't consider this an option since I also have my music on a 16GB SD card that I keep in the phone. If you can live with using only their SD card in your phone this will work fine for you but in my case this was the worst possible design. There are other methods they could have used to prevent piracy of their software.
Just wish I didn't have to search the internet for a utility that would allow me to move everything to a larger memory card. Would gladly have paid a bit more if they had provided an 8GB card, rather than a 2GB card.
